DFP held it's first Prisming Lab on January 22nd, aided by facilitator Linda Peritz. In our latest GCRC proposal, a group of core DFP faculty committed to meeting monthly to engage in a new initiative that we are calling Prisming Labs. These labs are meant to spur research and translation through challenging research discussions designed to jolt our comfortable ways of thinking. Research ideas will get teased apart and analyzed from our unique multiple disciplinary perspectives, identifying weak spots and opening entry points for collaboration. The goal of these labs is to leverage our interdisciplinary lenses and apply them to current and developing research. We will document this new and innovative process while developing new communication skills, eventually creating a "recipe" that can be shared across campus, research clusters, and international collaborators.
