PhD Student
Computer Science

Devyani is a PhD track student in Computer Science. She completed her BSc in Cognitive Systems: Computational Intelligence and Design from UBC in 2021. During this time Devyani was the president of the UBC Neuroscience Club for 2 years and volunteered extensively for the C.O.D.E Initiative and Splash Kids. Devyani completed the rigourous UBC Science One program in 2017. Devyani conducted research in stroke recovery using robot-assisted physical therapy for 3 years during her undergrad.

Research Interests

In her PhD Devyani hopes to continue combining her passion for psychology, neuroscience and computer science in the field of haptics and human-robot interaction research. In the first year of her PhD she is working on a project focussed on making social robot companions more accessible by engaging users in a self-design process. Devyani is focussed on doing by incorporating concepts from physical programming, human computer interaction, psychology and haptics.
