I was born and grew up in a small town in the heart of Kazakhstan, the largest country in Central Asia. After I got my first degree and started a family, we moved to a key city in my country for my 'dream' job as a librarian. Nine years afterwards, I finally realized what I wanted to do with my life, and moved with my family to Canada to study. I must say that the iSchool transformed my conception of the library profession, opening new horizons and inspiring me to explore new things.
Research Interests
One of my research interests is in how users navigate digital platforms. Specifically, I am interested in how models, strategies and tactics of human information seeking behavior can be applied when designing search systems to facilitate user interaction.
I am currently working on a research project on how people’s knowledge of and interest in a topic affects how they search for information in a digital library.
