Luanne Freund is an Associate Professor and Director of the UBC iSchool (Library, Archival and Information Studies). She holds graduate degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto. Dr. Freund's research and teaching focuses on information retrieval, human information interaction, and open data. She has published 60 peer-reviewed publications and her work has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Network of Centres of Excellence. In addition to serving as iSchool Director since 2015, Dr. Freund currently serves as an Associate Editor for Information Processing & Management and is a Program Committee member for major information retrieval conferences, including SIGIR, CIKM and CHIIR. She is an active member of ALISE and ASIS&T.
